Burger N Beast's George Street restaurant is the brand's North Dunedin branch, distinct from its second Dunedin shop and Richmond outpost. Long daily service hours position it for lunch, dinner and later cravings, with pickup and delivery adding flexibility for meals away from the restaurant. Its playful Beast naming runs through the food, but the underlying format remains a straightforward burger meal that can be customised with sides and drinks.
The brand puts particular emphasis on what goes into the bun. It describes its beef as fresh and sourced in New Zealand, its chicken as free range, its vegetables as bought from local farms and its buns as baked in house. Those details give a useful foundation to the menu's bigger flavours, which draw on aioli, chipotle, buffalo sauce, ranch, caramelised onion, pickles and several styles of cheese.
Beef and fried chicken anchor most of the selection, but the kitchen does not stop there. The Ghost matches a lamb patty with feta, salad, pickles and hot chilli, while the Hart Beast combines venison and beef with bacon, feta and plum sauce. A paneer, potato and cheese patty supports the Cheesy Veggie, and diners can also build their own burger or choose an especially stacked combination such as the chicken, beef, bacon and cheese Ferocious.
Sides and sweets carry the same abundant spirit. Wings, beer-battered onion rings and loaded fries can be topped with beef, chicken, bacon, cheese and sauces, while children's burgers and nuggets keep family orders simple. Cheesecake, tiramisu and ice cream lead into a drinks list that runs from coffee and frappes to thick shakes and fruit smoothies, so dessert can be as substantial as the burger itself.
