Huzur Kebab has served North Dunedin from its George Street shop since 2021, concentrating on Turkish food that can work as a quick lunch, a complete dinner or a takeaway order. Doner is the centre of the operation, prepared to order rather than treated as a single fixed combination. That focus gives the compact cafe a clear identity while leaving diners room to choose the bread, base, fillings and sauces that suit them.

The rotisserie is where the kitchen's approach becomes most distinctive. New Zealand lamb and free range chicken are marinated in house, then slow cooked vertically so the carved meat brings both seasoning and crisp edges to a roll or plate. Diners can order either meat on its own or combine the two, with fresh salad and a choice of sauces providing contrast. Falafel follows the same flexible format for anyone wanting a meat free meal.

Format changes the experience as much as the filling. A doner roll or pita pocket keeps the meal portable, while an Iskender plate adds rice, salad, hummus, tabbouleh and pita for a broader seated spread. Meat can also be served over chips, rice or salad, and the kitchen offers wraps that place chips alongside the filling. These options let the same slow cooked lamb or chicken move from a straightforward handheld meal to something more generous and layered.

Sides and extras round out an order while keeping the focus on the kebabs. Hummus with pita and Turkish garlic bread are natural sharing choices, while fries, snack boxes and combo meals make group ordering easier. Pickup and delivery give the menu a practical everyday character, alongside the house-marinated meats and freshly assembled fillings that define the kitchen's approach.
