East Pier gives Ahuriri a relaxed beachfront brasserie where the dining room, bar and waterfront location all belong to the same hotel complex on Nelson Quay. The food is pitched broadly enough for a casual drink and a few plates, a full dinner or a gathering built around platters. That versatility suits its position by the water, where local diners and hotel guests can approach the restaurant in different ways.

Small plates move easily between familiar comfort and more playful seasoning. Seafood chowder and battered prawns represent the coast, while calamari comes with kimchi mayonnaise and chicken with a Korean-style glaze. Mushroom parfait, pork belly, lamb cigar and chicken dumplings add enough variety for a table to assemble its own tasting spread before deciding whether to continue with larger dishes.

The main section is deliberately wide-ranging. Tempura fish, ribs, burgers and bangers sit beside beef cheek, ramen, fillet steak and pan-fried fish, with beetroot salad providing a lighter direction. Lamb pie, porchetta and chicken risotto lean back toward hearty brasserie cooking, so mixed groups are not forced into a single cuisine or format when choosing dinner.

Sharing remains a strong option through pizzas and antipasto, seafood, mixed and vegetarian platters. Desserts then range from apple tarte tatin and spiced pear to Basque cheesecake, opera cake, sundae, affogato and cheese. With set-menu and function service also available, East Pier can shift from an informal waterfront meal to a larger celebration without losing the approachable character of its everyday restaurant.
