Brew'd Cafe occupies the Don Street side of The Langlands Hotel, bringing a bright, neighbourhood-style café to the building's ground floor. It opens early for coffee from Invercargill supplier Mint Roastery, then carries on through breakfast, brunch and lunch. A seasonal cooked menu is backed by a cabinet of savoury food, baking and sweet treats, so the room works equally well for a settled meal, a coffee meeting or something collected on the way through the city centre.
Breakfast ranges from classic comfort to more composed sweet and savoury plates. The full breakfast brings together pork sausage, bacon, kransky, mushrooms, tomato, beans, hash brown, eggs and sourdough, while shakshuka uses spiced tomato, peppers, feta, lemon labneh and dukkah. Benedict and Royale cover bacon or smoked salmon with hollandaise. French toast layers brioche with cocoa-hazelnut cream, banana and mascarpone, beside croffles and fruit-rich granola for a sweeter start.
At lunch, local seafood shares space with burgers, sandwiches and substantial salads. Blue cod appears in beer-battered fish and chips, and a saffron chowder combines mussels, blue cod, shrimp and salmon. A double beef-and-chorizo burger and a panko chicken sando provide handheld alternatives. Wagyu beef salad brings corn ribs, avocado-lime dressing and smashed potatoes, while king-prawn pasta and vegan sorghum lasagne give the menu two very different routes through a fuller midday meal.
The menu is built to handle mixed needs without reducing every special diet to a side dish. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free adaptations or dedicated preparations appear across breakfast and lunch, including plant-based granola options and the sorghum lasagne. Younger diners have a separate selection covering cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, pasta and a mixed basket. Combined with dine-in and takeaway service, that range makes Brew'd useful for hotel guests, local families and city workers alike.
