Cody's Restaurant is a family-run Chinese dining room above Beach Street, positioned on Level 1 below SkyCity Casino. The kitchen is grounded in Sichuan-based cooking and also makes live seafood a central part of the experience, preparing it in a style chosen by the diner. Daily lunch and dinner service, combined with a broad menu, allows the restaurant to accommodate anything from a focused noodle meal to a large table ordering several shared dishes.

Soups and cold starters establish the Sichuan character before the larger plates arrive. Hot-and-sour soup delivers the expected contrast of tang and heat, while seafood-and-tofu or fish-and-coriander soups take a gentler route. Chilled beef and tripe bring spice and texture, cucumber offers freshness, and pan-fried dumplings add a crisp base with a softer filling. Ordering across these sections creates a paced beginning rather than sending every dish to the table with the same weight.

Seafood can become the centrepiece through scampi sashimi, fish in chilli oil, fish with pickled vegetables, prawns, scallops or a whole fish preparation. Peking duck and roast duck provide celebratory alternatives, while kung pao and fried chilli chicken keep the kitchen's bolder seasoning in view. The format naturally favours sharing: different sauces, proteins and cooking methods can circulate around the table instead of limiting each guest to a single plate.

Vegetable, tofu, rice and noodle dishes make the menu more than a showcase for meat and seafood. Mapo tofu carries Sichuan spice into a soft, savoury dish, while red-braised eggplant and garlic beans contribute sweetness, depth and crunch. Dan dan noodles, beef-brisket noodles and wonton noodles offer warming individual choices; beef ho fun and Yang Chow fried rice are particularly useful as shared staples.
