The Locker Room Sports Bar was created as a Queenstown home for people who want the match to be the main event, not background decoration. Hospitality veterans Hayden and Romain developed the idea with Casady during the pandemic, and the five stars in its branding represent the founding family. Open daily from noon on Brecon Street, the room is built around big-screen sport, an animated crowd and a food service that runs through the afternoon and evening.
The opening rounds of the menu lean into generous game-day food. House-made mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers and onion rings come with bold dipping sauces, while poutine layers fries with cheese curds and beef gravy. Spinach and artichoke dip, corn chips with three dips and chicken tenders are ready for a group to share. Wings can be dry-rubbed with lemon pepper, Cajun or vindaloo seasoning, or coated in sauces ranging from honey garlic and Asian barbecue to Buffalo and the fiery house blends.
Larger plates keep the North American influence but give diners several ways to settle in for a full meal. There is a Buffalo chicken wrap with blue cheese and ranch, quesadilla, macaroni cheese, chicken parmigiana and pork ribs glazed with Asian barbecue sauce. A chimichurri beef sandwich brings provolone, red pepper and onion, while the Mexican rice bowl combines coriander rice, feta, pickled onion, guacamole and black beans. Hot dogs arrive plain or dressed with jalapeño sour cream, caramelised onion or Mexican-style toppings.
Plant-based diners receive a parallel selection rather than one token dish: cauliflower wings, vegan poutine, a Buffalo-style wrap, vegan macaroni cheese, a plant-based chicken burger and vegan hot dogs all have a place. Thickshakes, draught beer, wine and cocktails broaden the choice of drinks. The weekly rhythm is equally deliberate, moving from Monday trivia into ribs, wings, parmigiana and hot-dog specials on successive days, so the food and the sporting atmosphere reinforce each other rather than operating separately.
