Chinwags Restaurant & Bar is a neighbourhood gathering place in Clarks Beach, run by Neha and Hanish since January 2025. The emphasis is firmly local and family minded: diners can settle in for dinner, order a takeaway, watch live sport or use the outdoor seating when the weather suits. A fully licensed bar supports the social side, but the substantial food menu keeps Chinwags within restaurant territory rather than making meals an afterthought to the drinks.
The main menu covers hearty, recognisable plates with enough detail to feel considered. Scotch fillet comes with seasonal vegetables, mash and mushroom sauce, while a slow-cooked lamb shank follows the same comforting meat-and-potatoes direction. The gourmet beef burger layers cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, aioli and barbecue sauce into a more casual meal. Butter chicken broadens the range again, making the kitchen useful for a group that wants familiar favourites without all choosing from the same narrow category.
Pizza brings a more playful strand to the menu. A seaside combination uses garlic sauce, prawns, spinach, cherry tomato, mozzarella and garlic aioli, while chicken, brie, spinach and cranberry moves between savoury richness and sweetness. Lamb mince with caramelised onion, spinach, feta and mint yoghurt has a distinctly Mediterranean profile, and pepperoni provides a straightforward classic alongside it. Those combinations give the pizza list its own personality rather than treating it as a generic supporting section.
Shared food is particularly well matched to the room's community-bar character. The Chinwags platter combines prawn twisters, salt-and-pepper squid and shrimp popcorn with salad, onion rings and nuggets, mixing seafood and crowd-friendly fried bites on one board. It can lead into pizzas or sit beside drinks during a game, while the steak, lamb and curry plates suit diners after a conventional dinner. That flexibility allows Chinwags to serve as both a local restaurant and an easy social meeting point.
