Boliwood brings a broad Indian menu to central Queenstown from its Shotover Street dining room. The restaurant is fully licensed, accepts reservations and serves halal food, with takeaway available alongside dine-in service. Its scale is part of the appeal: rather than concentrating on one regional style, the kitchen moves from the tandoor and familiar northern curries to South Indian dishes, street food and Indo-Chinese flavours. That breadth gives groups room to build a meal around both well-known favourites and less routine choices.
A meal can begin with the smoke and char of Boliwood's tandoor. Tandoori chicken, lamb chops, fish tikka, paneer tikka and seekh kebab bring different meats, seafood and vegetarian ingredients into the high-heat cooking style, while mixed platters let a table sample several preparations together. Onion bhaji and samosa supply crisp, familiar appetisers around them. This section works especially well for sharing because diners can combine smoky grilled pieces, fried snacks and fresh accompaniments before deciding which curry direction to take.
The curry list covers plenty of ground. Butter chicken and korma offer milder, creamier profiles, while Madras, jalfrezi, Kolhapuri and kadai preparations move towards sharper spice, tomato and capsicum. Saag brings leafy greens into the sauce, and goat curry offers a deeper meat choice beyond chicken or lamb. Seafood is represented through dishes such as prawn Malabari and fish masala, while a large vegetarian selection ensures paneer, lentils and vegetables are central parts of the menu rather than secondary substitutions.
Boliwood becomes most distinctive in the sections beyond the standard curry-and-rice format. Dosa, idli and uttapam bring South Indian batters and textures to the table, while biryani and fresh breads provide different foundations for a shared meal. Street-food dishes make a lighter route through the menu, and Indo-Chinese noodles and rice add a contrasting wok-cooked strand. Desserts complete the progression, making the restaurant as workable for a quick individual dinner as it is for a long group meal built from many plates.
