Boteco Cafe & Restaurant is an evening destination where a family-run kitchen brings Mediterranean cooking together with a few South American ideas. The mood is built for lingering: tables can be reserved throughout the week, shisha is part of the offering, and the menu encourages groups to begin with several dishes rather than committing immediately to one main. Freshly prepared food and house sauces link the broad range together.
The traditional platter is the clearest introduction, gathering hummus, falafel, baba ganoush and stuffed grape leaves around warm pita bread. Those familiar mezze flavours sit beside crisp polenta and cassava, popcorn shrimp and chicken wings. South American fries take a richer direction with hand-cut potatoes, mozzarella, mushroom sauce and sour cream, so the smaller plates can move from bright, lemony and herbal to unapologetically comforting.
Charcoal grilling anchors the main course. Beef kofta, lamb skewers, chicken kebabs and whole tiger prawns arrive with Mediterranean salad, fries, pita and the kitchen's sauces, while a separate Boteco chicken plate pairs grilled breast with mashed potato, vegetables and creamy mushroom sauce. Moussaka layers eggplant and potato with beef mince and cheese, and steak, lamb chops, fish and pasta broaden the choices beyond the grill.
Meat-free diners have several complete options rather than only side dishes. Falafel and eggplant kebabs retain the same salad, pita, fries and sauce format as the meat skewers, while grilled halloumi and chicken salads suit a lighter meal. Turkish delight or Boteco's baklava offer a concise finish. Together, the share plates, charcoal mains and later service make the Kilmore Street dining room particularly well suited to an unhurried group evening.
