Three Sisters Brewery has grown from Joe and Sarah's garage-brewing project into a New Plymouth brewpub with a full restaurant offering. Commercial production began in 2017, and the brewery moved into the former Taranaki Savings Bank building on Devon Street West in 2020. The setting gives the business room to bring production, beer service and dining together under one roof. Diners can book a table for a meal, while visitors interested in the brewing side can also arrange private tours or events.
The beer list is deliberately broad rather than fixed to one house style. Current releases move between Oakura Blonde, Rain in the Face American pale ale, pilsner and several hazy beers, with fruit-driven smoothie sours and stronger limited releases adding a more experimental edge. That spread makes a tasting paddle or mixed selection useful for comparing malt, hops and fruit-led brewing in one visit. It also explains why the food menu favours bold, familiar flavours that can stand beside very different glasses.
Food is substantial enough to make dinner the purpose of the visit. Snacks include fresh focaccia with house dips, crispy chicken with pickles and fried pork belly with guacamole. Tacos come with pork, chicken, fish, cauliflower, tofu or prawn; the tofu version uses gochujang, pineapple salsa and pickled chilli, while fish is paired with chimichurri and tartare. Burgers and loaded chips extend the comfort-food theme, with both meat and plant-based choices represented across the menu. That range lets a table mix crisp snacks with handheld dishes rather than commit to one large plate.
The historic bank building is also set up for occasions beyond an ordinary table booking. Three Sisters hosts private parties, weddings, corporate events and product launches, and can produce special beers for an event by arrangement. That versatility reflects the brewery's development from a small independent producer into a social venue: visitors can focus closely on the beer, sit down for tacos and burgers, or use the space for a larger gathering. The combination of working brewery, restaurant and event venue is the clearest expression of what Three Sisters has become.
