Chinatown Chinese Restaurant is a long-form Chinese dining option in Takaro, open across lunch and dinner with dine-in, collection and delivery available from Cuba Street. Its menu is broad enough for two very different visits: a daytime table built around yum cha, or an evening spread of barbecue meats, seafood, soups and sizzling dishes. The large selection rewards sharing, since several people can order from different sections without forcing the meal into a single style.

Yum cha is a substantial part of the offering, with more than a handful of familiar dumplings. Steamed prawn dumplings, pork buns, chicken feet in black bean sauce and beef balls sit beside crisp taro pastries, turnip cake, lotus-leaf sticky rice and rice rolls. Congee and fried noodles give the table more grounding dishes, while durian pastries and prawn-and-coriander dumplings make it possible to mix dependable favourites with less routine choices.

The barbecue section supplies the richer centrepieces: roast duck, crisp-skinned pork and honeyed barbecue pork can be ordered separately or combined. Seafood ranges from fried yellow croaker and fish fillets in black bean or sweet-and-sour sauce to pickled-cabbage fish, scallops with XO sauce and steamed garlic scallops. Hot-and-sour soup, wonton soup and seafood bean-curd soup can begin the meal or act as a gentler contrast to the roasted and fried plates.

Rice and noodles help turn those dishes into a complete shared dinner. Young Chow and combination fried rice are joined by beef flat rice noodles and softer stir-fried noodle dishes, while casseroles and sizzling plates bring food to the table in a more warming format. The advantage of such a large menu is not simply volume: it lets a group move from delicate steamed bites to smoky roast meat, vegetables, seafood and comforting staples at its own pace.
