Roast Plus began in 2019 with a simple promise contained in its name: traditional roast dinners would anchor the kitchen, but they would not define its limits. The Hamilton East eatery now covers lunch and dinner with casual dine-in service as well as pickup and delivery. That flexible format suits diners after a complete plated roast and others who would rather choose a burger, dumplings or a snack box.
The roast meals remain the clearest expression of the original idea. Pork, beef, lamb and chicken are each served with pumpkin, kūmara, potatoes, peas and carrots, creating the familiar mix of meat, vegetables and sauce in one order. Pork comes with a piece of crackling, while a roast-vegetable meal keeps the same comforting sides without meat. Extra roast potatoes, gravy and crackling allow the plate to be adjusted around individual priorities.
The 'plus' portion of the menu takes several directions. Crispy chicken and Angus beef burgers sit beside pan-fried or steamed dumplings, while the Messy Wings section coats fried chicken in a choice of flavoured sauces. Pork loaded fries turn a side into a fuller dish. Smaller boxes bring in boneless chicken bites, prawn twisters, spring rolls, spring-onion pancake, takoyaki and kumara-taro balls for mixing and sharing.
Drinks and desserts reinforce the menu's playful side. Brown-sugar bubble tea, custom-flavoured sodas and juice drinks appear alongside milkshakes and smoothies, giving fried snacks and roast meals very different possible pairings. Chocolate mousse offers the simplest sweet finish, while fried doughnuts dusted with cinnamon sugar lean into the eatery's comfort-food character. The result can answer a classic roast craving while still giving companions distinctly different choices.
