JadeTown Uyghur Cuisine Albany brings the operator's long-running Auckland exploration of Uyghur food to a modern dining room on Oracle Drive. The Albany branch opened in 2024 and uses an extensive menu to introduce the cooking of north-west China and Central Asia through lamb, handmade noodles, rice, bread and aromatic spice. It is a sit-down restaurant designed for both a quick bowl and a table ordering several large dishes to share.
Sharing is built into the larger plates. Big-plate chicken combines chilli, potatoes and either bone-in or boneless meat, while polo folds lamb and carrots through braised rice with salad on the side. Handmade noodles create even more variation: they can arrive topped with stir-fried meat and vegetables, tossed with spicy lamb, paired with mushrooms or cut into short pieces for a different bite. Diners can also choose wide noodles with lamb ribs or drier stir-fried styles.
Cold dishes and smaller staples sharpen the meal between richer courses. Cucumber comes with garlic dressing, starch-jelly noodles take a spicy Uyghur dressing, and the house salad provides a vegan option. Baked meat pies and steamed or fried dumplings bring pastry and dough into the mix. Vegetable dishes are not confined to a token side, with eggplant, cabbage, black fungus and celery, French beans and broccoli each prepared as separate plates.
The grill makes lamb the centre of attention through standard skewers, lamb-rib skewers, kidney, tandoori kebab with naan and larger roasted shoulder or leg preparations. Chicken wings, chicken skewers and prawn kebabs give groups alternatives, while advance-order whole or half lamb is available for very large gatherings. Homemade ayran and a pot of hot Uyghur milk tea fit the food especially naturally, with fresh naan ready to catch the juices and spices left on the table.
