Juliana's Restaurant & Bar is the named dining room within New Plymouth’s Auto Lodge, yet it operates as a bookable restaurant rather than simply a guest amenity. The spacious modern room is fully licensed and open for breakfast and dinner throughout the week. Its mix of hotel convenience and public table service suits an early start, a quiet dinner for two, a family meal or a small celebration.

Small plates range from familiar comforts to sharper combinations. French onion soup arrives with a Gruyère crouton, and Caesar salad balances baby cos, bacon, parmesan and house croutons. Roast cauliflower and halloumi is paired with chickpeas, corn and hummus, while calamari, garlic prawns and chilli-honey chicken bites provide seafood and poultry alternatives. Mixed veal, pork and beef meatballs complete the section with tomato and fresh mozzarella.

The main courses move confidently between bistro staples and broader flavours. Tandoori chicken is served with coriander chutney and basmati rice, while market fish comes with prawn velouté and herb potatoes. Salmon is matched with soba noodles and sticky soy, pork ribs with apple-cider barbecue sauce, and red-wine-braised lamb shank with greens and potato. Beef cheeks and grilled steaks make the richer end of the menu equally substantial.

Dessert keeps the tone generous and recognisable. Apple strudel, sticky toffee pudding and banoffee pie sit beside hot-fudge and raspberry sundaes, while affogato offers a shorter finish with espresso and liqueur. A cheese selection gives savoury diners another route, and the coffee list extends to Irish, French, Italian and Calypso variations.
