Trojan Turkish Cafe Restaurant & Takeaway is an established George Street stop that works as both a sit-down cafe and a quick counter meal. Its central location and long service window suit lunch, dinner and a later bite, particularly toward the end of the week. The format is casual and direct, but the menu extends well beyond a single style of takeaway kebab, giving diners a choice between wraps, composed plates, salads and meat cooked on the charcoal grill.
Wraps remain the quickest way into the menu. Chicken, lamb and combination doner are joined by falafel and zucchini fritter options, with garlic sauce, tabbouleh, mixed salad and a choice of sauces bringing freshness and acidity. A gluten-free wrap is also listed, while meal combinations add fries and a drink for an uncomplicated lunch or late-night order. Newer fillings introduce mushrooms, sweetcorn and grilled peppers or chicken with vegetables and melted cheese.
Iskender plates turn the same core flavours into a fuller meal. Chicken, lamb, combination, falafel and zucchini versions come with rice, pita bread, dips, hummus, tabbouleh and salad, allowing the accompaniments to balance the richness of the doner. The shish section shifts attention to the grill, with marinated chicken, kofte and combination skewers served with salad or over rice. That distinction gives regulars a meaningful choice between sliced doner and freshly charred meat.
Vegetarian diners can build a meal around falafel, zucchini fritters, dolma, hummus, salads and meat-free Iskender combinations rather than relying on one token dish. For smaller appetites there are sides and salads, while meat or vegetables over chips offer a deliberately hearty alternative to rice and pita. The breadth of the menu explains Trojan's appeal across lunchtime, takeaway and late evening visits: service is fast, yet the selection remains broad enough for a mixed group to eat together.
