Bella Vita has been part of New Plymouth's dining scene since 2004 and has occupied its larger Devon Street East premises since 2011. The Italian-inspired restaurant opens for dinner throughout the week, with a more limited lunch service, delivery and advance bookings adding flexibility. A relaxed dining room, broad beverage list and facilities for group events let it move between an everyday meal and a planned celebration.
Pasta and pizza provide the most direct route into the menu. Carbonara pairs linguine with chicken, bacon and pecorino cream, while prawn linguine uses garlic, chilli and white wine. Seafood marinara and beef ragu offer richer alternatives, and vegetable arrabbiata risotto brings tomato, chilli, mushrooms and feta together. Pizzas move from Margherita to Diavola, seafood and meat combinations, giving tables several contrasting dishes to share.
Dinner can begin with garlic pizza bread, bruschetta, calamari or mussels in a garlic and white-wine sauce before moving into more substantial mains. Pan-fried salmon, braised duck leg, coconut-braised pork belly and grass-fed eye fillet show the kitchen working beyond pasta. Bella fish and chips provides a familiar option, while salads and vegetable sides make it possible to balance the richer plates across a group order.
Dessert keeps the European theme visible through tiramisu, creme brulee and affogato, alongside cheesecake and chocolate-led preparations. For organised gatherings, two separate dining rooms can host smaller groups individually or combine for a larger event. Canape selections and multi-course set menus give weddings, business dinners and celebrations a more structured format than the standard menu, while still drawing on the restaurant's established dishes.
