The Grand fills a multi-level building on Courtenay Place with an all-day restaurant, bars and spaces for larger gatherings. Its scale is part of the experience: breakfast, lunch and dinner occupy the main dining operation, while the building's revived sense of grandeur gives a casual meal more character than a single-room pub. Daily service and a central Te Aro address make it practical for anything from an early plate to a late evening.
Breakfast offers both classic and vegetarian cooked combinations, with eggs, hash browns, beans and toast joined by meat or meat-free sausages and other additions. Avocado toast brings red onion, tomato, feta and balsamic, while breakfast muffins layer egg with either sausage or halloumi. Later in the day, steak rolls, chicken-pesto and halloumi-pesto sandwiches and Korean chicken, beef or plant-based burgers shift the menu toward an easy lunch.
Dinner is built around recognisable bistro and pub dishes with enough breadth for mixed groups. Pork belly bites, halloumi fries, seafood chowder and popcorn cauliflower work as starters. Chargrilled sirloin, lamb shank, chicken parmigiana and chicken-bacon pappardelle supply the heavier mains, while fish and chips, Caesar or Thai-style salads and plant-based burgers give the table alternatives to steak and slow-cooked meat.
Upstairs, ABV turns the Courtenay Place outlook into a sheltered rooftop bar with cocktails and a regularly changing set of New Zealand craft-beer taps. The wider building contains five levels with self-contained bars, allowing The Grand to handle functions without separating food from the occasion. That combination of full restaurant service, rooftop drinks and adaptable event rooms explains why the venue works across very different kinds of Wellington outing.
