Yue’s Dumpling Kitchen Menu

Yue’s Dumpling Kitchen in Albany is much broader than its name first suggests. Dumplings are a centrepiece, but the current menu reads like a full northeastern Chinese restaurant, with cold starters, pork, beef, lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetable dishes surrounding them. Online ordering and delivery support convenient meals, while the scale of the selection also lends itself to a table sharing several dishes across different cooking styles.

The dumpling list focuses on clearly defined savoury combinations. Pork with Chinese cabbage offers a classic pairing, pork with chives and shrimp adds a seafood note, and lamb with coriander brings a more aromatic filling. Beef and onion rounds out the prominent choices. They can anchor a meal on their own or take the place of rice and noodles when several stir-fries and cold dishes are being shared.

Cold plates introduce the texture and seasoning typical of a northern spread. Spiced beef shank, black-fungus salad, preserved-egg tofu and shredded potato can sit beside prawn wontons or smoky cold chicken. Pork dishes then move from braised hock and belly with pickled cabbage to sweet-and-sour ribs and northeastern crisp sweet-and-sour pork. These are robust plates designed to contrast with the softer dumplings.

The rest of the kitchen gives a group plenty of range. Lamb is stir-fried with cumin, chicken appears with mushrooms or in Kung Pao sauce, and seafood includes soy-steamed fish and prawns with chilli. Vegetable choices such as tofu with mushrooms, eggplant with potato and capsicum, bok choy with mushrooms, and spinach with black fungus can balance the meat dishes. The menu therefore rewards ordering across sections rather than treating dumplings as the only reason to visit.
