Stellar Restaurant & Bar occupies a central Whanganui corner with a format that changes character through the day. Brunch and lunch give way to a substantial dinner menu, cocktails and tap beer, while late-night entertainment keeps the bar side active after the kitchen's more traditional service. Table bookings make it suitable for an ordinary meal, and a separate function room extends that flexibility to celebrations and group events.

The daytime menu balances breakfast staples with more filling lunch plates. Eggs can be ordered simply on toast, folded into an omelette or served Benedict-style over ciabatta with spinach and hollandaise. Steak and egg or fish with fries and egg provide heartier options, while creamy fettuccine gives diners a pasta route. Banana bites offer a sweet finish without waiting for the evening dessert list, rounding out the daytime selection neatly.

Dinner begins well with food designed to sit in the middle of the table. Garlic bread, buttermilk chicken, lemon-pepper calamari and crispy pork bites can be mixed with loaded wedges or nachos, while the seafood chowder folds a New Zealand seafood medley into a creamy broth with toasted ciabatta. Larger appetites can move on to scotch fillet, lamb shank, chicken schnitzel or fish and fries, keeping the cooking recognisable and generous.

Burgers, pizzas and desserts round out the everyday menu, giving mixed parties several familiar routes through a meal.
