The Station Bar & Bistro is a Napier local open seven days, starting with breakfast and continuing into the evening. Its garden bar gives casual drinks and meals an outdoor setting, while a private function room provides a more contained option for groups. An all day menu links those different occasions, so the venue works as comfortably for a morning catch up as it does for a shared dinner or an organised celebration.

Breakfast leans into generous bistro plates. Eggs on toast and a banana Belgian waffle cover the simpler end, while avocado smash adds hash browns, brie, tomato and poached eggs. Hash eggs Benedict, a corn and potato fritter stack and a Kiwi fry up build fuller meals from eggs, bacon, vegetables and crisp potatoes. The range is familiar, but the combinations are substantial enough to carry a slow weekend morning.

Later in the day, the menu shifts naturally toward sharing. Corn nuggets, pork belly, wontons, squid and mussels appear as small bowls, and pizzas range from margherita to chicken with brie and cranberry or a barbecue meat combination. Loaded fries, tacos, burgers and wraps provide straightforward individual meals, while hot platters and mixed taco trays make ordering for several people less complicated.

The bistro mains keep the emphasis on hearty, recognisable cooking. Fish and chips, crumbed beef schnitzel, chicken carbonara and chicken parmigiana sit beside pork belly with roast vegetables, slowly braised beef cheek and a full stack of barbecue ribs. Steaks and chops come with a choice of sides and sauces, allowing a diner to adjust a classic grill plate within the pub and bistro format. Together with takeaway and function service, that breadth carries The Station's food offering from breakfast through late evening.
