Amador occupies the upper level of Press Hall, turning a central Willis Street food complex into a more relaxed place to pause above the pavement. The bar and cafe has a terrace as well as its mezzanine-style interior, so a visit can shift from daytime coffee to after-work drinks without changing address. Its city-centre position suits a quick stop, but the room is also set up for lingering, with bookings and regular programming giving it more purpose than a purely transient wine counter.
The drinks selection is the clearest expression of Amador's identity. Natural, organic and sustainably minded wines sit beside cocktails, with espresso martinis connecting the bar to its cafe side. Coffee is roasted in Wellington, while alcohol-free bottles built around combinations such as raspberry and chamomile or cinnamon and yuzu make a considered alternative to wine. That breadth allows the venue to serve a morning coffee crowd, an early evening aperitif and a later social gathering with equal ease.
Food comes from Amor, Amador's downstairs sibling at the same Willis Street address, and diners are specifically invited to carry it upstairs. The offering centres on generously filled sandwiches, including hand-rolled porchetta and crisp eggplant parm, rather than token bar snacks. Duck-fat roast potatoes, triple-cooked potatoes and changing seasonal salads extend the meal beyond bread, while the option to eat on the terrace with a glass of wine gives this compact two-level partnership a clear dining rhythm.
Amador also works as a social room rather than only a place to order at the bar. Weekly quiz nights encourage repeat visits, live music brings a different pace to selected evenings, and the space can be booked for birthdays, farewells or work gatherings. The combination of upstairs views, food from below and a drinks list that covers coffee through cocktails makes it especially adaptable: a table can begin with sandwiches and stay for wine, or arrive later for music and a non-alcoholic pour.
