Lone Star Spitfire brings the familiar New Zealand restaurant and bar format to Spitfire Square, close to Christchurch Airport. It is set up for an easy family meal, a stop before or after a flight, or a larger celebration, with private booths, a sunny courtyard and several function areas within the venue. Daily service makes it a flexible option across the week, while the largest event configuration can accommodate as many as 140 guests. The mood is relaxed and generous rather than formal, with room for both small tables and busy groups.

Meals can begin with a spread designed for sharing. Garlic bread and bean dip sit beside loaded chips, chicken nibbles, calamari and prawns, while nachos, fried chicken, quesadillas and green-lipped mussels make it possible to build a substantial first round for the table. That breadth is useful when a group wants to snack over drinks as well as when everyone is settling in for a full dinner. The selection moves between familiar comfort food and seafood without asking the whole table to follow one style of eating.

The larger plates carry the hearty character associated with Lone Star. Beef and chicken burgers offer a casual main, and the menu broadens through fish, garlic and chilli prawns, Cajun or stuffed chicken, sirloin and ribeye steaks. Hoisin and orange pork ribs supply the signature sticky, hands-on option, while slow-roasted pork belly gives diners another rich choice outside the grill. Portions and flavours are built for an appetite, but the variety means a table can range from seafood to steak and chicken without losing the restaurant's straightforward identity.

Families are supported by a dedicated children's menu with its own selection of meals. Dessert keeps the same crowd-pleasing spirit, moving from sundaes and pavlova to crème brûlée, doughnuts, crumble, cheesecake and warm puddings. Those choices make the restaurant as practical for a complete family dinner as it is for a quick burger or shared plates. For parties and work gatherings, the separate function spaces extend that flexibility, allowing the food-led restaurant experience to carry through to occasions that need more privacy or capacity than an ordinary booking.
