The Fox Riccarton is a modern gastropub on the Rotherham Street side of Westfield Riccarton, with its own exterior-facing entrance from the shopping centre car park. It opens daily from late morning, allowing the venue to span brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks rather than functioning only as an evening bar. The Fox is dog friendly and operates as a supervised venue for minors, while the broad menu and multiple meal periods make it practical for a family lunch, an early dinner or a longer group gathering.

The main menu leans into substantial pub cooking. Entrées include house pork dumplings, boneless chicken bites, creamy garlic prawns with toasted bread and mushroom-and-Parmesan arancini. Chicken parmigiana and barbecue pork ribs sit beside carbonara, fish and chips, pan-roasted salmon and roast pork belly. Slow-cooked Guinness beef cheek with creamy mash and greens and a lamb shank with mash and gravy add two colder-weather choices, giving the list more depth than snacks and burgers alone.

Burgers range through beef, pulled lamb, peri-peri chicken, buttermilk fried chicken, battered fish and a vegan patty. Four pizzas and three salads give groups more ways to mix lighter and heavier dishes, while the Fox Platter gathers ribs, pulled beef, sausages, pork-belly bites, macaroni cheese, slaw, tortillas, pickles and sauces onto one board. Hot-stone cooking remains another point of difference, with choices among several Canterbury beef cuts, chicken, prawns and a surf-and-turf combination, each completed with selected sides and sauce.

Lunch and brunch have their own identity. The Fox Big Breakfast combines eggs, sausages, bacon, potato rosti, mushrooms, beans and toast; eggs Benedict, bacon waffles and eggs on toast provide shorter routes. BLT and steak sandwiches, a fried-chicken wrap, bangers and mash and toasted sandwiches bridge breakfast and pub lunch. For private gatherings, an upstairs room has its own bar, televisions, sound system and facilities, and can be arranged around either cocktails or a seated set-menu meal.
