Arranged Marriage brings the food traditions of Kerala to a welcoming dining room on The Square. The Palmerston North restaurant has served this style of South Indian cooking since 2015, building on the founders' earlier Kathakali restaurant in New Plymouth. A Kerala-born chef leads a menu shaped by coconut, seafood, rice, lentils and carefully layered spices. Dosa is one of the clearest expressions of that southern focus. The thin fermented rice-and-lentil pancake comes with sambar plus coconut and tomato chutneys, creating crisp, soft, sour and savoury elements in the same plate. Diners can choose a classic masala filling or versions with chicken, paneer or egg, while the house special adds a more elaborate combination. Soft idli and fried lentil vada explore the same fermented-grain tradition through different textures, making this section useful for sharing before the curries arrive.
