Saigon Taste brings an independent Vietnamese dining room to Majoribanks Street in Mount Victoria, a short walk from the Embassy Theatre. Chefs Hung and Nga shape the restaurant around recipes drawn from Vietnamese home cooking, family heritage and street food, so the menu feels personal without narrowing itself to one regional speciality. Table bookings and group meals sit alongside takeaway and delivery, giving the restaurant enough flexibility for a pre-film dinner, an unhurried meal with friends or food collected for home.
The opening plates introduce fresh herbs, crisp textures and contrasting sauces before the larger dishes arrive. Rice paper summer rolls layer vermicelli, lettuce, mint and bean sprouts around the chosen filling, while Hanoi and Saigon fried spring rolls offer two distinct versions of the familiar snack. Prawn spring rolls, tamarind chicken wings, beef or chicken salad, steamed pork buns and Vietnamese fried wontons broaden the choice, making it easy to assemble a shared first course rather than treating starters as an afterthought.
Noodle soup is one of the menu's strongest threads. Pho can be ordered with combination beef, rare beef, chicken, or vegetables and tofu, while Huế spicy beef soup provides a more forceful aromatic route. Crab rice noodle soup, wonton and pork noodles, beef casserole noodles and a hot and sour seafood and beef soup extend the range beyond pho. Diners can therefore choose between clean broth, chilli heat, seafood depth or a richer slow cooked character while staying within the comforting bowl format.
