The Breakfast Club brings a playful American-diner streak to the everyday neighbourhood cafe. Its Point Chevalier branch is bright and retro rather than restrained, setting up a menu that treats brunch as an occasion rather than a hurried stop between errands. Daytime hours throughout the week make it useful for early coffee, a long breakfast or lunch. Tables are managed on a walk-in basis, with a separate enquiry route for large gatherings and venue-hire conversations.
Pancakes are central to the cafe’s sweeter personality. The Classic Stack keeps things direct with three buttermilk pancakes, whipped butter, berry crumble and maple syrup, while coconut pancakes add berry coulis, coconut cream and sorbet. Other variations move through dark chocolate, blueberry mascarpone and Biscoff. Croffles, soft serve and sundaes push the same diner mood towards dessert, giving diners plenty of reasons to order something more elaborate than toast with their coffee.
The savoury half of the menu has just as much character. Club Benny sets poached eggs and chipotle hollandaise over hash and kale, with bacon, cured salmon or mushroom available, while the green-chilli scramble comes on garlic ciabatta with roasted cauliflower. The Big Brekkie Club covers the full spread of sausage, bacon, hash, mushrooms, tomato and eggs. Whipped avocado with tofu and fried kale, chicken meatballs, and a corn-cheese smashed burger take brunch in less conventional directions.
The cafe also makes room for different appetites rather than treating indulgence as the only route. Vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free choices are clearly marked, and a burrata salad or plant-based oats can sit comfortably beside the stacked pancakes and habanero fried chicken croffle. Espresso coffee, filter and cold brew are joined by matcha, kombucha, fruit drinks and diner-style shakes. That range helps the retro setting work for mixed groups, from coffee catch-ups to a full celebratory brunch.
