Fork & Brewer brings brewing and cooking together under one roof in central Wellington. A 1,000-litre brewery operates on the premises, feeding a bar with 42 beers pouring, while the kitchen and beer garden make the venue as much a restaurant as a taproom. The breadth of the taps allows a visit to move from a quick tasting to a full meal without changing venues. Food and house beer are also available for collection or delivery, extending the brewpub's reach beyond its Bond Street tables.
Beer appears inside the food as well as beside it. Crispy chicken is brined in the house Stonefruit Lager before receiving a rice bubble and panko crumb, while fish for the fish and chips is battered in Otto Lager. The Griffin burger layers a beef patty with brisket smoked in house and barbecue sauce infused with the brewery's own Griffin beer. Suggested tap matches sit alongside many dishes, turning the menu into a practical guide for diners who want to see how malt, hops and carbonation can work with smoke, fat and crisp batter.
The rest of the menu keeps that generous brewpub character while offering genuine variety. A fish burger uses slaw, tomato, crisp capers and dill, and the chicken burger adds pickled cucumber, daikon and charred lemon aioli. A smoky vegan smash burger broadens the choices, as do cauliflower wings and a toastie with mushroom and spinach. Pizzas range from margherita to a meat focused version with brisket smoked in house and Griffin barbecue sauce, while the brewer's platter gathers breads baked in house, smoked meat, cheese, pickles and hummus for sharing.
The food works best as part of the brewery experience rather than as a separate programme. A crisp lager can cut through battered fish, a draught can balance smoked brisket, and a beer led by hops can sharpen a rich pizza or burger. Diners who prefer to browse can start with fish bites in beer batter, loaded fries or the mixed brewer's platter before choosing a larger plate. With lunch beginning before noon and service continuing late from Monday to Saturday, the venue can shift comfortably from midday meal to a tasting after work and a longer evening.
