BODA occupies the top floor of Mövenpick Hotel Auckland, overlooking the Waitematā Harbour and central-city skyline. The outlook gives the restaurant a natural sense of occasion, but its schedule is unusually versatile for an elevated hotel venue, moving from breakfast through lunch and dinner to a late-running bar. Chef Hyokeun's kitchen frames the experience around modern Korean flavours and New Zealand produce rather than treating the panorama as the only attraction.
The main cooking style is recognisably Korean while leaving room for regional ingredients and contemporary presentation. A pork-and-kimchi sausage roll reworks a familiar New Zealand form, while grilled Wagyu bavette and Korean-style octopus show the menu's more composed side. Shared dining brings dishes such as jeyuk-bokkeum, Korean fried chicken and slow-cooked lamb shoulder to the centre of the table, an approach that suits the bold sauces, pickles and contrasting textures threaded through the food.
Weekend brunch uses the same Korean reference points in a more relaxed format. Mushroom bulgogi sits on sourdough with a poached egg, and braised pork belly turns eggs Benedict towards radish kimchi and gochujang hollandaise. The Wagyu tteokgalbi burger adds cheese, kimchi and Korean barbecue sauce, while fried chicken waffles combine gochujang with maple syrup. Oats, coconut-yoghurt granola, seasonal-vegetable bibimbap and kimchi fried rice give the menu lighter and meat-free routes through the meal.
Wine, beer and alcohol-free cocktails extend BODA beyond the dining menu, while Little Boda adds a gin-focused bar in the hotel lobby. Larger parties can use curated shared menus, and bespoke private dining can be arranged for both intimate occasions and bigger celebrations. That range makes the venue useful in several different ways: as a destination dinner above the harbour, a long weekend brunch, a group table built around shared plates or a drink with a city view.
