Kerà-la-carte brings the cooking of Kerala and wider South India to its Courtenay Place restaurant in Te Aro. Lunch and dinner service are supported by takeaway and delivery, but the menu has the depth for a shared dine-in meal: crisp snacks, dosas, layered breads, cassava combinations, biryani and coconut-rich seafood and meat dishes all have room. The regional focus gives the restaurant a clear identity within Wellington's Indian dining scene, particularly through ingredients and formats that go well beyond familiar North Indian curry-house staples.

The starter list moves between South Indian and Indo-Chinese flavours. Onion bhaji and paneer pakora use chickpea batter for crunch, while gobi 65 brings fried cauliflower into a spiced preparation. Chilli gobi, chilli paneer and chilli mushroom combine crisp ingredients with onion, capsicum and tangy sauces. Paneer pakora provides a milder cheese-centred contrast to those chilli-led plates. These dishes make good shared openings, especially when balanced by a gentler curry later, and the menu's explicit vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free labels help groups compare choices before ordering.

Dosas are one of the menu's strongest routes into South Indian cooking. The fermented rice-and-lentil crepe can be ordered plain, brushed with ghee, filled with potato masala or paneer, or made more substantial with chicken, egg and a house-special filling. Sambar and coconut and tomato chutneys complete the plate. Appam and palappam offer soft fermented rice-and-coconut pancakes for scooping up sauce, while Kerala parotta contributes a flaky, layered bread that also becomes the base of chopped kothu parotta dishes.

Kerala specialities give the main courses their most distinctive character. Kappa pairs cassava with fish curry or becomes a cassava biryani with beef, lamb or goat, while fish molee and beef coconut fry show the importance of coconut in different forms. Conventional biryani ranges across vegetables, egg, chicken, beef, lamb and goat, and Chettinad vegetables provide a vegan curry built with roasted coconut and whole spices. Together with seafood, dal and paneer choices, the menu can support a varied table without making every diner choose the same style of gravy.
