New Fortuna Restaurant occupies an upstairs dining room by Petone's Clock Tower on Jackson Street. It serves lunch and dinner with table seating and reservations, while pickup and delivery make the same broad menu available at home. The selection suits both a quick rice or noodle order and a larger shared meal assembled from dim sum, roast meats, seafood, vegetables and hot pots.

Smaller dishes can turn the opening of a meal into a yum cha-style spread. Pork dim sims, barbecue pork buns, dumplings in chilli oil and crisp fried wontons cover several textures, with sesame balls available for a sweet contrast. Soup choices include wonton, chicken and sweet corn, hot and sour, and West Lake beef, giving diners a warm first course before the stir-fries and roasts arrive.

The larger plates move through Cantonese restaurant staples and more robust casseroles. Roast duck and crisp-skinned roast pork can be shared beside sweet-and-sour pork or braised pork with potatoes in brown sauce. Sizzling black-pepper beef ribs bring heat and aroma to the table, while tofu appears in seafood, roast-pork and combination hot pots as well as salt-and-pepper and vegetable preparations.

Rice and noodles provide plenty of ways to anchor those dishes. Combination, seafood, Yung Chow and salted-fish chicken fried rice sit alongside chow mein, Singapore-style rice noodles and stir-fried hor fun. Vegetable egg foo yung, mushroom with greens and dry-pot cauliflower broaden the meat-free choices. With so many sections designed for sharing, New Fortuna works particularly well when a table orders across categories rather than choosing a single main each.
