Gemini Cafe brings an eatery and bakehouse together at its Brandon Street location in central Wellington. The business began in 2019 with an Asian-inspired approach, and that influence now runs through an all-day menu served from breakfast into the afternoon. Diners can settle in for a full plate, stop for coffee and something baked, or build a lighter lunch from sides and salads. The result is a daytime cafe that treats pastry, brunch and punchier savoury flavours as parts of the same identity.

Several signatures use croissants and croffles as a starting point, then take them well beyond a standard cabinet pastry. Popcorn chicken croffle balances crisp chicken with corn, berries, mascarpone and slaw, while churros French toast layers bacon and seasonal fruit with berry mascarpone, caramel and chocolate mousse. A mushroom and halloumi toast adds truffle mascarpone and beetroot hollandaise. Soft-shell crab with poached eggs and a prawn-and-egg croissant extend that pastry-led style into seafood brunch dishes.

The menu also gives familiar cafe structures a Gemini-specific set of choices. Eggs Benedict can be ordered with bacon, mushrooms, smoked salmon or halloumi, served over milky toast, a croffle or a spiral croissant with both classic and beetroot hollandaise. GEM salads combine savoury granola, avocado, mushrooms, halloumi, vegetables and crisp chickpeas, with optional salmon, prawns, popcorn chicken or bacon. A vegan plate of falafel, plant-based protein, cauliflower, vegetables and beetroot relish makes the meat-free range more substantial.

For a more casual lunch, the burger section moves from crisp brined chicken to a gochujang version, a beef option and a combination of soft-shell crab with chicken, cheese, slaw and pickles. Salt-and-pepper calamari, cauliflower bites, bang-bang crab and cheesy chips work as sides or table additions. Coffee sits alongside the cafe's playful ice-bear drinks, matcha and flavoured lattes, while the bakehouse element keeps breads and sweet pastries in view for diners who want a shorter visit.
